新冠肺炎肆虐全球，現年63歲、身處澳洲拍電影的奧斯卡影帝湯漢斯（Tom Hanks）於社交網站透露，自己與太太對新型冠狀病毒測試呈陽性反應，成為首個確診荷里活著名影星。
湯漢斯於社交網Instagram寫道:「大家好！我和太太身在澳洲，我們都感到有點累就像得了感冒，身體亦疼痛，而太太一度「發冷」及輕微發燒。有鑑於目前環球疫情，為正確處理這情況，我們已經進行了新型冠狀病毒測試，結果是呈陽性的。（Hello, folks. Rita and I are down here in Australia. We felt a bit tired, like we had colds, and some body aches. Rita had some chills that came and went. Slight fevers too. To play things right, as is needed in the world right now, we were tested for the Coronavirus, and were found to be positive.）」
